KEY NOTE SPEAKER1

Dr. Jason Jabbour (PhD.) is a Senior Advisor and Programme Coordinator with UNEP’s Office of the Chief Scientist based in Nairobi, Kenya. He provides coordination of and input to the science and analytics that inform the organization’s decisions, strategic priorities and science-based activities. Jason is responsible for overseeing an organization-wide effort to enhance the use and application of foresight tools, including futures thinking and horizon scanning at UNEP. Prior to this role, he served in various capacities with the Division of Early Warning and Assessment and the Regional Office for North America on a range of environmental sustainability issues. Since joining the UN in 2007, he has worked on intergovernmental scientific assessments, sustainability indicators and regional and national efforts to integrate adaptation responses into development planning processes.  Jabbour holds a doctorate degree from Technische Universität Berlin in the field of Sustainability Science, a Masters degree in Forest Conservation from the University of Toronto, and a Bachelor of Environmental Studies (biophysical geography) from the University of Waterloo. Jason is a Canadian national with language skills in English, French and Arabic.

Dr. Monica M. Musenero is a distinguished academic and researcher based in Uganda, known for her significant contributions to public health and epidemiology. With a robust academic and professional background, she has held various influential positions, including her recent role at the Office of the President in Uganda and her tenure as the Minister of Science in Uganda.
Dr. Musenero’s research primarily focuses on infectious diseases, particularly in the context of Uganda’s health challenges. Her recent publications reflect her expertise in the field of immunology, with studies addressing the immune response to SARS-CoV-2 and the implications of vaccination strategies in the Ugandan population. She has also investigated the epidemiology of typhoid fever and other infectious diseases, contributing valuable insights to public health policy and practice.
Her academic journey includes affiliations with Makerere University and the African Field Epidemiology Network, where she has been instrumental in advancing research and training in epidemiology. Dr. Musenero’s work has garnered support from various international institutions, highlighting her commitment to improving health outcomes in Uganda and beyond.
Through her research and leadership, Dr. Musenero continues to play a pivotal role in addressing public health challenges and shaping health policy in Uganda.
